Scholar — Educator — Storyteller

I’m an award-winning scholar of Chicano and Mexican art & culture. My research focuses on the transborder holiday Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). I’ve shared my scholarship in books, journals, news outlets, public lectures, podcasts, and comic books. I’m a National Endowment for the Humanities “Public Scholar,” and my work has been featured on PBS, NBC Today Show, NPR, Washington Post, LA Times, and the Arizona Republic. I teach at Arizona State University’s Barrett, the Honors College in Downtown Phoenix. I also maintain a professional career as a performer, storyteller, and poet.
