Professor Muerte

Scholar — Educator — Storyteller

I’m a cultural historian and performance studies scholar. My research focuses on the transborder holiday Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). I’m also an award-winning professor at Arizona State University’s Barrett the Honors College. I teach interdisciplinary seminars on art, culture, performance, cinema, race, history, and activism.  I also maintain a professional career as a performing artist, storyteller, poet, and filmmaker.  I have a PhD from UCLA, an MA from NYU, and a BA from UNLV.
